School Environment
The Village Preschool is located in Santa Cruz's banana belt, where long hours of sunshine provide an excellent growing environment. The school is located in the backyard of a the historic Morrissey Farm House, with deep connections to the earth and community.
Our preschool program runs from Monday to Friday with a morning program from 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and an afternoon program from 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. We provide children with healthy snacks and lunch during our preschool program, and afternoon snack in the afternoon.
Honoring the need of the preschool aged child to find security in the familiarity of the home setting, this program seeks to offer a social experience in the Waldorf-inspired tradition of a beautiful, homelike environment. Friends happily join together in real and domestic work activities like bread-and soup-making, washing and sweeping, as well as singing, painting and free imaginative play.

At Village Preschool, we create a nurturing and rhythmic environment, to counteract today's fast-paced culture. Preschool-aged children are developmentally prepared to explore beyond their home and immediate community, but struggle to navigate safely when faced with constant stimuli and growing tastes. Our daily routines create secure vessels for children, to hold a place between anticipation of joy and protection from life's little sorrow.
